GEMS GIRLS' CLUB INFORMATION

GEMS Girls’ Club is a mentoring ministry for girls. GEMS stands for Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior and their mission is to help lead girls into a vibrant relationship with Jesus and to equip them to enthusiastically follow the Savior. The MArCH GEMS Club is now 4 years old and currently has groups for 1st – 7th grades. The club provides a place to nurture Christian friendships and fellowship and explore Christian disciplines of study, prayer and service in age appropriate settings.  In GEMS, small groups of girls are lead and mentored by caring, Christian women.  We have times of singing, playing, study, prayer and crafts, and sometimes service and mission projects.  Most of the time, all activities take place during the scheduled meeting times.  Throughout the year, the girls can earn badges for their efforts in study and service.

Club meetings include worship time, small group study in age groups, activities and crafts, and fellowship and snacks at the end. Because GEMS is a mentoring ministry, it is our policy to maintain small group sizes of about 8 girls so that attention to each girl can be available.

This fall our group will be meeting two times a month on Wednesdays at 1:45 – 3:15 p.m. at Allen Bible Church, 109B Greenville Avenue in Allen, TX. This is in the northwest corner of Greenville and McDermott.

Moms are asked to serve at least two times a semester during club time by bringing snacks and helping with meeting time and clean up. Childcare for siblings is provided on the days you help in club only. Otherwise, girls may be dropped off at club and picked up by at the end.

The small fee covers meeting supplies and Bible study materials as well as a t-shirt and membership card (last year it was approximately $25-$35 total for the year, depending on the level).  The girls may also receive a GEMS magazine subscription for her age group at an additional cost.  All materials are provided through the group, and girls take their study materials and craft projects with them. Girls are asked to bring their Bibles and have their GEMS books with them.

How to join: since GEMS is a mentoring and relationship building ministry we add members and have visitors only at planned times. Registration for fall is in August each year and registration for spring is in December. We typically have one visitor day each semester.
