Changes to the MArCH Website PDF Print E-mail
Written by Doug Gillespie

The MArCH website has undergone some changes recently that we hope will make it more useful for our members.  This article discusses some of the new features and changes to the site.

Registered (Private) Website Areas

The most significant change to the website is that there are now areas of the site that are only accessible to registered MArCH members.  By having these new "private" areas, we have the ability to protect our members' personal information from public access.  Some categories of news articles, document downloads, and calendar events are now private and can be seen only if you are logged into the site.   For instance, all information about MArCH Clubs is now private.  Also, you may access previous MArCH Tribune Newsletters in electronic format in the private documents section once you have logged in.

User Login/Logout

To access private content and enable private features, you will need to "Login" to the website.  To do this, you will need to supply a UserName and Password.  If this is the first time you are logging into the site or you do not remember your Password and/or Username, then you may request that information be sent to your email address by clicking on the "I need help logging in" link on the left.

Forums

The website now supports forums for registered members to interact with other members.  The Forums menu will take you to a page that lists all of the available forum categories.  Some of the categories are Enrichment, Homeschooling Topics, MArCH Classifieds, and Technology.  Under each category are various forums related to the categories.  For instance, under MArCH Classifieds, there is a forum for listing items that you want to sell.  Please feel free to add forum entries and start discussion threads on a topic.  If you want, you may subscribe to a particular forum and get an email notification when someone responds to your post.

Only MArCH members will be able to see these forums. Please note that the forums are currently configured to immediately publish anything you write to the website without being held for review.  So please be kind and courteous with one another.  If necessary, we can change the configuration to require approval before posts are published.  If there are any other forums or forum categories that you would like to see added, please let me know.

Donations

MArCH is registered with the IRS as 501(c)(3) organization and has been given tax-exempt status. This means that we can accept contributions and offer donors a tax deduction for their gifts.   A Donations page has been added that will allow MArCH to accept tax-deductible donations for various funds, including a facility fund, the benevolence fund, and the Enrichment scholarship fund.

Manage Your Mailing Lists

You may now subscribe to and unsubcribe from the MArCHNews and EnrichmentNews mailing lists.  MArCH uses these mailing lists as the primary way to deliver ("blast") emails containing important information and announcements.  To subscribe or unsubscribe, you must first log in and then choose "Signup for Emails" on the left.

New Look

The website's look has changed to include a "right" column of information along with the "left" column.  The layout of the webpage now dynamically resizes based upon your browser's window size.  And some new modules have been added including a Clock module, a Search-The-Bible module, and a "Who's Online" module.

Please explore the site and feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or suggestions.

Thanks!
